The client’s fascination with city’s historical military bastions and the low ceiling of the basement floor has become the starting point for creating an intimate, ascetic, and mysteriously dark interior. Spaces filled with the smell of wood, clouds of steam, sounds of running water, and natural textures provide a sensory experience for body and soul. While relaxing in a hot tub or a sauna visitor’s wandering mind can spot the references to the limestone bastions of Swedish baroque times, sites of 19th-century red brick Kreenholm textile manufactory, the shores of the river and the waterfall, the Soviet era and the modern city.
